Rehoboth man still missing

THE family of a Rehoboth man who disappeared late last year say they refuse to give up hope of finding him.

Frederick Louw (42), who went missing on November 19, was last seen by co-workers building a bridge between Aussenkehr and Noordoewer on the country’s southern border. His clothes were found on the banks of the Orange River on November 24, a day after he was reported missing.According to his employer, Karl Erdmann of City Garage at Rehoboth, his employees had gone on an outing next to the river after work, and later all made their way home.Police initially suspected that Louw had drowned in the Orange River, but to date his body has not been retrieved.”I always phone the Police whenever I read that a body has been retrieved from the river,” says Louw’s wife, Glenn.”But the answer has always been negative, she says. The family say they fear their plight is becoming an afterthought for the Police, who have not yet been able to gain any insight into his disappearance. However, a Police source at Keetmanshoop on Tuesday confirmed that the Serious Crime Unit based in Windhoek had been brought in to assist with and broaden the investigation. The family earlier said that they had not ruled out foul play in the disappearance of Louw, a father of two.Anyone with information on Louw’s whereabouts is requested to contact his wife, Glenn Louw, at (062) 52 3927.His clothes were found on the banks of the Orange River on November 24, a day after he was reported missing.According to his employer, Karl Erdmann of City Garage at Rehoboth, his employees had gone on an outing next to the river after work, and later all made their way home.Police initially suspected that Louw had drowned in the Orange River, but to date his body has not been retrieved.”I always phone the Police whenever I read that a body has been retrieved from the river,” says Louw’s wife, Glenn.”But the answer has always been negative, she says. The family earlier said that they had not ruled out foul play in the disappearance of Louw, a father of two.
