THE 29-year-old grandson of the late Rehoboth Baster Kaptein Hans Diergaardt, was killed in an apparent knife attack at the Hardap town over the weekend.
The younger Hans Diergaardt, affectionately known among peers as ‘Kroon Prins’ (Crown Prince) was stabbed to death on Saturday afternoon, in the town’s Block F location.Police said he died at around 18h30, in an ambulance on his way to the hospital. The suspect, a 23-year old man was arrested later during the weekend. The man, Elrico Eberenz, made his first appearance in the Rehoboth magistrate’s court yesterday. He was granted bail at N$1 600, and is set to return to court on the charge on September 21.Community members commenting on the incident alleged that Diergaardt’s death was preceded by a physical confrontation between the two men earlier in the day, after which Eberenz apparently returned to confront his alleged victim with a knife.
