Rehoboth gets first second-hand clothing store

The first second-hand women’s vintage clothing store at Rehoboth has opened its doors.

The founders of New2you Boutique, Adelle and Chantelle Cloete, say the idea for the boutique was sparked due to public demand and to make fashion more affordable.

The duo sells items from their home, their Facebook account, and at a stall opposite the B1 service station at the town.

The stall operates on Fridays and Saturdays from 09h00 to 14h00.

The items are imported from the United States and China.

Adelle says prices range from N$50 to N$200 per item.

“The demand for buying second-hand items has drastically increased. Many second-hand clothes are gently used, or not used at all, meaning they are still in great condition, but are often priced significantly lower than they would be if they were purchased new.

“For buyers, reselling clothes is a great way to save money,” she says.

Chantelle says they sell items for every occasion, and will also be selling men’s clothing from next week.

“We decided on men’s clothing because many clients ask for it.

“We aim to keep our clients happy,” she says.

Client Rose-Mary Cloete says the idea works, because reselling clothing reduces the amount of waste created by the fashion industry.

“Clothes have a long lifespan, so instead of throwing away what people no longer need or want, resellers are good.

“By buying second-hand clothes people can save money, reduce their environmental impact, and help support a small business.

“This is a great way to help to create a more sustainable and profitable fashion industry,” she says.
