JOHANNESBURG – A South African football referee shot a coach dead and injured two players for questioning his decision to hand out a yellow card to one of their team members during a match, police said Sunday.

The incident occurred in the southern seaside town of Kenton-on-Sea on Saturday during a game involving two local teams, police inspector Mali Govender told the Sapa news agency.
