A man (20) allegedly took his own life in Windhoek on Friday with his cousin’s Baikal pistol.
The man allegedly took the firearm from underneath his cousin’s pillow while he was sleeping.
This is according to the police’s weekend crime report.
Salomo Valombola’s body was found in the toilet of the house he shares with his cousin..
“It is reported that the deceased’s cousin woke up at the sound of a gunshot, noticed that the deceased was not in his room, and that his firearm, which he placed under his pillow, was not there,” the report reads.
It is alleged that the man’s cousin handled the firearm in a reckless and negligent manner by placing it under his pillow while sleeping.
He has not been arrested yet, however, the firearm with live rounds and a magazine was confiscated.
No suicide note was found, and no foul play is suspected.
Valombola’s next of kin have been informed of the incident, while police investigations continue.
