RA closes rain-damaged routes in ||Kharas region

The Roads Authority (RA) on Tuesday announced that several roads in the ||Kharas region have been temporarily closed following heavy rainfall.

RA urged road users to use alternative roads and prioritise safety when travelling.

Among the affected routes are district road 1077 connecting Keinachas to Asab and district road 1088 north of Gibeon town. The main road 25 between Karasburg and Aroab has also been partially closed between kilometre 50 and kilometre 70.

Additionally, the district road 1075 from DR1089 to Asab has been temporarily shut down.

“The public is advised to avoid flooded roads, adhere to road closure signage and stay informed through official RA communication channels,” the statement reads.

Motorists travelling through the region are advised to make use of designated alternative routes. These include main road 32 from Gibeon towards the Ketenhause and Helmeringhausen areas, main road 98 linking Tses and Berseba, and district road 0554 towards Ketenhause.

Travellers heading from Karasburg to Aroab should use trunk road T0301 via Grünau before continuing along main road 26.

“RA is actively monitoring the affected areas and will take necessary assessments and repairs as conditions permit,” the statement reads.
