Quality Futsal Club took a decisive step towards winning the Futsal Premier League title for the first time after a comprehensive 9-0 victory against Demia Futsal Club on Saturday.
Demia managed to hold Quality at bay till midway through the first half, but Quality’s dominance told as Luis Solunga broke the deadlock, when he slotted home a fine throughpass.
Solunga added his second with a cracking shot and then completed his hattrick just before halftime after some quick interplay left Demia’s defence at sixes and sevens.
Quality upped the tempo after the break and took complete control with three goals in quick succession by Alione Quimuengue, Chisloth Nunda and Eddy Solunga.
Quality were in cruise control and further goals by Doctor Marcus, Kali Gaseb and even one by goalie Alpha Sankoh – a long-range shot from his own goal-line that caught his opposite number napping, completed the rout.
It was Quality’s ninth consecutive victory which put them at the top of the table on 27 points, followed by the defending champions Patriots on 22, while the X Men are third on 19 points.
Selecao from Swakopmund, meanwhile, travelled to the capital, but lost both their matches, going down 5-1 to Chile, and 3-0 to City Stars.
In other matches on Saturday, the Ballers beat the Mavericks 3-0 to go fourth on the log on 18 points, and Windhoek Show Society beat 7 Kings FC 5-2.
With only three rounds of matches now remaining, Quality are in thedriving seat to win the title, but the deciding fixture will take place next weekend when they take on Patriots FC.
