Pursuing The Picture In Your Mind

One of the most difficult things to do for most people, is to create a picture of what you want to do and become in life. What is even more difficult is believing that you can actually become what it is you picture in your mind.

In life we become vulnerable to the limits we set for ourselves. Sometimes we are so eager to become like the people we look up to, that, at the end of the day, we have to ask ourselves if that is what we really want.

I for one saw myself as a professional, successful public speaker just because I admired a lot of other speakers. Fortunately I developed a passion for it and started studying methods and tactics of public speaking until I started getting paid to do it.

A wise man once said if you start doing what you love doing very well, people will actually pay you to do it. Many people are out there getting paid for doing what they love doing the most. We call that passion but it all started with a picture in their mind’s eye.

See it is very important to develop a positive picture of yourself. If you are reading this article and you are still in school, sit yourself down and honestly ask yourself what it is you see yourself doing.

The mistake that most motivational speakers make is asking young people the commom question ‘What do you want to do when you grow up?’, as if you are not around now, in this very moment.

You are not supposed to doubt yourself because you are most likely to become what it is you picture yourself becoming.

Many people face challenges as they pursue the image they have of themselves. Yes challenges will be there because becoming the picture in your mind will not be easy. Find people that are doing the thing you want to do. Interview them and find out about the storms they have been through. Research what you want to do. Don’t give up on your dream.

Some will be derailed by the people they associate with. You may slow down as you chase your picture, but understand that we are not on earth to make a living but to live our making, and let the living we are making make our living.

What do you want to do? What picture do you see? The first time I spoke to a crowd of 600 pupils is when I believed that my picture is worth chasing. I wanted to speak to youth and empower people.

As I close I want to leave you with the thought that whatever you picture in your mind, you can become. It’s not about age or waiting to be great, start with the little resources you have and develop your passion. Do not allow the winds of negativity to blow it away.
