THE owner of the Punyu Group of companies in the North, Jairus Shikale, died in the Onandjokwe Lutheran Hospital on Thursday night at the age of 59.
Shikale, also known as Punyu, had been suffering from diabetes.He had many shops in the Oshikoto and Oshana regions, as well as a hotel at Onethindi, several filling stations and a stone crusher near Tsumeb.The Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has described Shitale as an active member of his community, who contributed immensely to the wellbeing of his people.’He was a hardworking, visionary and skilful entrepreneur who built up the Punyu empire through sheer hard work, commitment and a natural urge for success,’ said NCCI Chief Executive Officer Tarah Shaanika.’The Punyu brand is one of the strongest brands in Namibia, thanks to his unmatched business acumen and strong business leadership.’ The funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
