IT is truly shameful that after more than 21 years of Independence, we are using the oppressive law when it comes to City of Windhoek, and why is it that it is the same State owned enterprise that is selling our properties to recover debts.
People fought for this country; no we must fight to keep our properties NOT to be auctioned off for recovery of water and electricity! The government officials with high water bills were never threatened with execution on their properties, so why the low income citizen targeted?.The Management at the debt collection section is an enemy of our citizen: one makes arrangements and proof is there that one is paying, yet they keep threatening they will sell your property by purposely enlisting the help of their lawyers. Our 2030 vision is housing for everyone, yet the certain cliques at City of Windhoek are in self enrichment schemes in which they collaborate with the agents to sell one’s property. Anti-corruption must be given access to all the debt files, and they will find people with bills of N$150 000 who have not been taken to lawyers, apparently because they make agreements with the same officials. You will find others with lower amounts being threatened with execution on their properties. What double standards? I hope the Executive management must be put on 5 year performance contracts like all other SOEs. We are tired; you beg to see the CEO, and he will never have time to listen to your explanation, instead you are referred to the same people who have hidden agendas and are colluding to sell our properties on auctions with devious agendas! Please help your community, send an investigation team or appoint a separate body that will not be biased towards the old, sick and poor.JakesVia e-mailNote: Real name and address provided – Ed
