President’s office to manage oil and gas

PRESIDENT Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Saturday said the oil and gas industries will be managed in a way that will maximise its benefits to all Namibians.

As a result, they will be managed by the Office of the President.

The president said this during the announcement of her new Cabinet at State House in Windhoek.

“Yes, you have given powers to this president, and she is now using them for the benefit of the people,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the government’s vision is to ensure resources are enjoyed by all Namibians.

“It was necessary that such projects are under the president to ensure the industry is structured in way that creates value addition,” she said.

Earlier this month, Nandi-Ndaitwah reportedly asked government officials to explain the viability of Namibia’s green hydrogen programme.
