President to deliver Namibia’s statement at COP30 Brazil on Friday

President Netumbo Nand-Ndaitwah will deliver Namibia’s national statement at the 30th annual United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP30) in Brazil on Friday.

This was announced by the Presidency in a statement on Thursday.

Nandi-Ndaitwah is attending the opening day of the COP30 in Belém, Brazil, alongside fellow heads of state and government.

“The president will be reaffirming the nation’s unwavering commitment to the Paris Agreement and the implementation of its nationally determined contributions (NDCs), “ reads the Presidency’s statement.

In addition to the plenary session, the president is participating in sessions on energy transition and 10 years of the Paris Agreement, both chaired by president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil.

The statement said she will also take part in a high-level round-table discussion on energy transition and hold bilateral meetings with fellow heads of state and government.

The statement said the discussions are aimed at strengthening partnerships on climate resilience and sustainable development.

“Namibia’s participation at COP30 underscores the nation’s leadership in advancing sustainable development, promoting green industrialisation and shaping global climate solutions for a more inclusive and resilient future,” reads the statement.
