President says Iran, Israel and US conflict could affect Namibia’s economy

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says rising global conflict, particularly a confrontation involving the United States (US), Israel and Iran, could negatively affect Namibia’s economy.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said this during her midnight speech for Independence Day celebrations at State House on Saturday.

“Of great concern now is the large-scale war between the US, Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Those factors could negatively impact our economy,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said the global environment is becoming increasingly uncertain, with tensions escalating across multiple regions.

She said the government will continue to closely monitor the situation and develop strategies to guide the country if the conflict intensifies.

“Guided by our Constitution, Namibia will continue to stand for peace, dialogue and cooperation among nations,” she said.

Nandi-Ndaitwah asked that all parties involved in global conflicts exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue in the interest of humanity.

She said climate change is another pressing global threat that could undermine development if left unchecked.
