President Pohamba Must Suspend Kapia

President Pohamba Must Suspend Kapia

PLEASE allow me space in your ‘Still Telling It Like It Is’ newspaper.I have read in the media that President Pohamba is going in circles with the issue of Minister Paulus Ilonga Kapia who has been implicated in a web of corruption.

President Pohamba has been making a lot of noise about fighting corruption since he came in office. If he is really serious about this fight and wants public support then this is the place to start.Does he think we are happy to see our money being played with by people like Kapia or does he think it is not important or does he simply condone corruption? I do not want to think that the President is being cautioned by former President Nujoma not to suspend Kapia as he was the one who nominated him on the National assembly list.I am sure that if it was someone else who did this, Kapia would be the first to call for the dismissal of this person. But I am now going to call for his suspension until he is cleared of these allegations, In the meantime I have a problem of recognising him as an ‘honourable’ deputy minister.I also want to condemn Swapo’s silence on this, as it shows us that they are condoning corruption. The man is implicated and no politician can ever survive that and retain his credibility at the same time.If Kapia is not suspended then President Pohamba and Swapo are making a mockery of democracy. It’s as simple as that.It is public money taken from our small salaries after hard work that is at stake and it cannot be just thrown away like that by the so-called leaders. In future we want to have competent people running the SSC, people with qualifications and not Swapo membership cards as a requirement.I am forced to conclude that the call by Kapia for ‘Jobs for Comrades’ is made in order to make things easier for misuse of public funds.
