President Not On ‘Binge’

YOUR article, “President on a ‘travel binge’” that appeared in your edition of June 30th , 2004 gave the impression that State visits are being used by the Presidency as a pretence for good byes to “long-lasting friends”.

On reading your article my conclusion is that the visits are not really state visits but merely visits necessitated by international meetings that happened to take place in countries that your newspaper regards as “long-lasting friends”. The word “binge” is mostly associated with doing things in a wild and uncontrollable manner, e.g. shopping spree, shooting spree, etc.I hope your newspaper is not implying the same by using the words “travel binge” or travel spree for that matter as that will be an outright insult to the presidency.Perhaps The Namibian is not telling it like it is!Himuvi Mbingeneeko Via e-mailThe word “binge” is mostly associated with doing things in a wild and uncontrollable manner, e.g. shopping spree, shooting spree, etc.I hope your newspaper is not implying the same by using the words “travel binge” or travel spree for that matter as that will be an outright insult to the presidency.Perhaps The Namibian is not telling it like it is!
