President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has congratulated northern businessman Benjamin Hauwanga for being recognised by the government of Angola’s Cunene Province for his philanthropy and humanitarian work.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Presidency says the honour was bestowed during Angola’s 50th independence celebrations.
The recognition acknowledges Hauwanga’s efforts to uplift communities through education, healthcare, and housing initiatives.
“His contributions, including the construction of schools, clinics, and 96 houses at Ondjiva for families affected by the civil wars, have improved many lives and strengthened regional solidarity,” the statement reads.
Nandi-Ndaitwah commends Hauwanga for his compassion, generosity, and enduring partnership with the people of Angola, a nation she said shares deep historical and emotional ties with Namibia.
His continued support and gratitude toward Angola, she added, reflect true pan-African values, she says.
“On behalf of the government and the people of Namibia, the president congratulates Hauwanga on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for exemplifying the values of humility, service, and humanity,” the statement reads.
