President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed ambassador Bonny Haufiku as the new chief of protocol at State House, with effect from 1 November.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the president said Haufiku brings to the position a distinguished diplomatic career spanning more than two decades, with extensive experience in international relations, bilateral cooperation and multilateral engagement.
She noted that Haufiku has served Namibia with dedication in various capacities within the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, as well as at diplomatic missions abroad.
“As chief of protocol, Haufiku will be responsible for advising the president and the Presidency on matters of protocol, ensuring the highest standards of diplomatic etiquette and coordination during official engagements, state visits and international events,” the statement reads.
The appointment, according to the statement, underscores the Presidency’s commitment to strengthening Namibia’s diplomatic presence and maintaining the country’s reputation for professionalism and excellence in international relations.
“The Presidency extends its congratulations to ambassador Haufiku and wishes him success in his new role,” the statement reads.
