A power outage hit Windhoek briefly on Thursday afternoon, with the electricity tripping at around 15h00 and returning before 15h15.

The electricity outage also affected traffic lights in the city.

When contacted for comment, City of Windhoek spokesperson Harold Akwenye said he did not know what caused the power cut.

“We are not aware of the power cut, we have also realised now that there is no electricity, but we do not know what really happened. We are trying to figure out what happened and then we will get back to you,” he said.
