Power Cuts In Caprivi

Power Cuts In Caprivi

ALLOW me to air the views of the voiceless majority in the Caprivi region over the pathetic situation concerning electricity supply in the region.

Electricity interruptions are the order of the day. We were reliably informed that once the connection to Livingstone is effected the interruptions would become a thing of the past.Alas, after the above came to fruition the interruptions have actually increased! We now experience on average of three to four interruptions a day, which can last up to five hours. This is done without any notification, therefore leading to damage to our electrical items to which claims fall on deaf ears. When electricity goes it is followed immediately by an interruption of water and sometimes network. This leaves the poor Caprivians without communication, banking facilities and therefore without money, and they cannot even cook food, let alone watch TV.This has been going on for more than a year now and really in this 21st century it is unacceptable.I do not see why this level of incompetence should be tolerated. If Nampower cannot sort this problem once and for all why don’t they bring in experts to assist them? They are always giving flimsy excuses such as rains – how come it rains in other parts of the country and they do not experience power cuts? And why do the power cuts happen even in the dry season? I would like to urge the Ministry concerned to intervene and save us from this miserable life we are forced to live.D Matengu Via e-mailWe were reliably informed that once the connection to Livingstone is effected the interruptions would become a thing of the past.Alas, after the above came to fruition the interruptions have actually increased!
