The Oshana, Oshikoto and Ohangwena regions experienced a power cut on Monday night.

According to national power utility NamPower, the power cut disrupted electricity supply from around midnight to 03h00 on Tuesday morning.

The power cut enabled NamPower to disconnect mobile substation from 132kV and 66kV busbars.

The northern electricity distributor (Nored) had issued a notice to customers advising them to treat all electrical installations as live at all times.

Meanwhile, the central regional electricity provider, Cenored, also announced that Tsumeb will face a power cut on Sunday from 08h00 to 16h30.

The power cut will allow NamPower to do annual maintenance on all HV equipment at the Tsumeb substation.

*This report has been modified to state that the power cut in the northern regions already took place on Monday evening and Tuesday morning respectively.
