Pope Francis calls for global ban on surrogacy

Pope Francis has called for a worldwide prohibition on surrogacy, condemning the practice as a “grave violation of the dignity of the woman and the child.”

During an address on Monday, the pontiff called upon the international community to unite in efforts to universally prohibit surrogacy, urging a collective stance against what he perceives as a growing threat to the sanctity of human life.

He expressed his deep concern over the exploitation of vulnerable situations, adding that a child should always be considered a gift rather than a commodity subject to commercial contracts.

“The path to peace calls for respect for life, for every human life, starting with the life of the unborn child in the mother’s womb, which cannot be suppressed or turned into an object of trafficking,” Pope Francis said.
