Polytechnic expands knowledge resources

KNOWLEDGE remains the only “missing link” in the jigsaw as Namibia pursues economic growth and prosperity, says Higher Education, Training and Employment Creation Minister Nahas Angula.

“We have all the resources in this country, but our people still lack knowledge,” Angula said at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Polytechnic of Namibia’s new multi-million dollar resources centre yesterday. “As we invest in facilities that store knowledge – like this [one] – we hope the return will be a competitive workforce to help grow our economy.”The Minister also lamented the lack of productivity among workers in Namibia, which he felt left much to be desired. The new N$ 72 million facility will house a library and technology resource centre, including books, about 300 computers, digital collections, teaching resources and extensive study areas. It is expected to be completed in July 2005.”As we invest in facilities that store knowledge – like this [one] – we hope the return will be a competitive workforce to help grow our economy.”The Minister also lamented the lack of productivity among workers in Namibia, which he felt left much to be desired. The new N$ 72 million facility will house a library and technology resource centre, including books, about 300 computers, digital collections, teaching resources and extensive study areas. It is expected to be completed in July 2005.
