Spokesperson for the Namibian Police, chief inspector Kauna Shikwambi, has been promoted to the rank of deputy commissioner and appointed as head of the police’s public relations division with effect from 1 January 2020.
A media statement made available to Nampa on Tuesday and signed by the inspector general of the police, lieutenant general Sebastian Ndeitunga, said Shikwambi succeeded former deputy commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi, who served in the position for about eight years and is now assigned to head the Namibian Police’s farm in the Omaheke region.
In an interview with Nampa on Wednesday, Shikwambi said although her promotion was an exciting achievement, it did not mean she was intent on just collecting more commendations and respect, but that she was now entrusted with more responsibilities.
“I believe it is required of me to come up with fresh ideas and newer strategies for the division that will enhance our performances and render better services to the force and the public at large,” she added.
