Police request information on officers involved with Kablou

THE police is requesting the public to come forward with information leading to the identification of police officers who were allegedly involved in criminal activities with the late Sakeus ‘Kablou’ Amateta.

Police spokesperson deputy commissioner Edwin Kanguatjavi made the request in a media statement issued today after the late Amateta’s mother Johanna Nekwiyu-Amateta alleged that some police officers had acted in cahoots with her son when he was involved in criminal activities.

“I noticed that Sakeus had many friends, including Nampol members who were collaborating with him. Many times I woke up in the middle of the night hearing strange movements and I saw Nampol members knocking at his window to come and fetch him to go commit crimes,” said the grieving mother as quoted by Namibian Sun.

Kanguatjivi called this allegation serious and urged members of the public to come forward with information regarding the involvement of the said police as well as identify them.

“In the interest of justice, Namibian police will leave no stone unturned until the allegations are proven to be true or false, and if proven to be true the culprits will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” he said.

Amateta, who was implicated in various crimes, was fatally shot by the police two weeks ago in Windhoek after he allegedly resisted arrest.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Khomas regional police commander commissioner Sylvanus Nghishidimbwa on 0813385358 or deputy commissioner Abner Agas on 0811242649.
