Police release sketch to identify woman found near Unam

The police have released a composite sketch of a woman whose decomposed body was discovered near the Western Bypass, opposite the University of Namibia’s main campus.

The sketch is in an effort to establish her identity.

According to police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi, the body was found on 31 January, and the woman remains unidentified.

Shikwambi says police sketch artists compiled a possible facial image based on the body, which is now being circulated to assist with identification.

“We circulated the dress already as per the picture below. We herewith circulate the composite for possible identification as she is still unknown and unidentified. Please help us,” Shikwambi says.

She adds that the police are appealing to members of the public who may recognise the woman or have any information that could assist in identifying her or tracing her relatives.

Anyone with information is requested to visit the Windhoek police mortuary or contact chief inspector Oscar Shatipamba on 081 273 5188 or 081 311 4842.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
