THE Police were not willing to reveal any information yesterday about the escape of one of the suspects arrested for the murder of the Kruger farming couple in March 2009.
Police spokesperson Deputy Commissioner Hophni Hamufungu told The Namibian that he was informed of the escape of Ebson Tumbireeko (28) from Police custody in Omaruru over the weekend, but said he was still awaiting feedback from the Erongo Regional Commander, Commissioner Festus Shilongo.Asked for comment, Shilongo said the media would have to wait for a press conference to be held in Walvis Bay today to get more details, since he was still awaiting an incident report.By yesterday afternoon Tumbireeko was still on the run, a Police source admitted.During March 2009, Jannie (80) and Toets (75) Kruger were shot dead on their farm near Omaruru. Three men were arrested and face charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances. The suspects are Ebson Tumbireeko (28), Raphael Kahinatjo (45) and Gabriel Elazeua (32). Their case has been moved to the High Court.
