LONDON – British police were granted more time yesterday to question a 29-year-old man arrested last week in connection with investigations into the London bus and underground train bombs.
The man, being held in London, was arrested during raids on houses in the northern English city of Leeds directly linked to three of the four men who carried out the bombings in London on July 7. The death toll from the attacks has risen to 56.”A further warrant of detention has been granted allowing him to be detained until July 23,” police said in a statement.Police have widened their net to include Pakistan and Egypt – although earlier yesterday a state-owned Egyptian newspaper said they were now sure that Leeds-educated biochemist Magdy Elnashar arrested last week in Cairo was not involved.British police said they had no comment on the report.- Nampa-ReutersThe death toll from the attacks has risen to 56.”A further warrant of detention has been granted allowing him to be detained until July 23,” police said in a statement.Police have widened their net to include Pakistan and Egypt – although earlier yesterday a state-owned Egyptian newspaper said they were now sure that Leeds-educated biochemist Magdy Elnashar arrested last week in Cairo was not involved.British police said they had no comment on the report.- Nampa-Reuters
