Police cadet dies, another found with cannabis at Ondangwa

A 30-year-old police cadet died at the Namibian Police’s Ruben Danger Ashipala Training Centre at Ondangwa on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says the deceased was identified as Matheus Kandiwapa.

“On 30 July, during the verification and screening process at Ruben Danger Ashipala Training Centre, one of the Cadets, soon after reporting he fell ill, was rushed to the hospital. Sadly, he was declared dead upon arrival,” Shikwambi says.

In a separate incident on the same day, another cadet was found in possession of one ballie of cannabis. The Namibian was informed that the suspect is a 27-year-old man.
