Police ask public to report suspicious activity

Police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi says the public should immediately report information or suspicious acts to the police instead of putting it on social media.

This comes after a post was shared on social media regarding a suspected kidnapping attempt at Moses //Garoeb School in Windhoek.

Shikwambi says the police have taken note of a social media post that circulated on Wednesday, about an “alleged attempted kidnapping of pupils at Moses Garoeb Primary School” and “another Okahandja attack on a child”.

“Given the current situation of pupils raped and killed at Okahandja; threats to peace and security disruption can never be overlooked or ignored, hence the Namibian Police Force will not react lightly to posts like those, and, therefore, the matter is receiving serious attention”, she says.

The spokesperson says the public will be updated regarding this matter.

Shikwambi also says the public must avoid speculations, and creating or spreading unverified information which is likely to cause panic and havoc among people.
