A MAN who allegedly hacked his mother with a panga at Ehafo village in the Oshana Region, northern Namibia, is now in Police custody.
Oshana Police spokesman Constable Christina Fonsech told The Namibian that Klemens Lenga Simon (28) was arrested at the Oshakati Open Market on Tuesday afternoon. He appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court at the end of last week to face charges of attempted murder and arson.Simon and his mother, Meschtilde Martin (58), reportedly had an argument about money – N$100 – on Saturday night.Simon is then alleged to have hacked her several times with a panga and set her hut on fire before fleeing.Martin is still in a serious condition in the Oshakati State Hospital.He appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court at the end of last week to face charges of attempted murder and arson.Simon and his mother, Meschtilde Martin (58), reportedly had an argument about money – N$100 – on Saturday night.Simon is then alleged to have hacked her several times with a panga and set her hut on fire before fleeing.Martin is still in a serious condition in the Oshakati State Hospital.
