The Namibian Police have issued an apology after releasing a report announcing that a woman who was shot by her boyfriend in Windhoek on Monday had died.

Sonia Ndimulunde was allegedly shot on Monday morning by her boyfriend before he took his own life. He was pronounced dead at the scene while Ndimulunde was rushed to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in a critical condition, although later the police said she succumbed to her injuries.

National police spokesperson Kauna Shikwambi in a statement on Tuesday said Ndimulunde was in fact alive and apologised to her family.

“We wish her a speedy recovery,” Shikwambi said.
