Pirates meet Civics

A TITANIC clash is in the offing when triple league champions Civics meet a star-studded Orlando Pirates side in a MTC Namibia Premier League match at the Sam Nujoma Stadium tonight at 19h00.

The two sides are facing each other for the first time this season and the match could turn out to be a thriller, considering the exceptional talents both sides have. It will be an awesome encounter to watch, as all the players who did duty for the national side are back, eliminating excuses of the unavailability of key players. The ‘Buccaneers’ will be the favourites, as their massive support base is just a stone’s throw away from the stadium.Pirates have only lost once from their four matches so far, while Civics have a similar record. They both have two wins and a draw and are both on seven points. But this encounter will be different, as both teams are coming from defeats in matches played last weekend.Civics lost to Black Africa, while Pirates lost to African Stars. Both lost by a solitary goal.Pirates, whose fans tend to turn violent if they lose, cannot afford to slip up in this encounter, as they were also bundled out of the FNB Cup about two weeks ago.Pirates can simply not afford a third consecutive defeat, while Civics aim to lift themselves from the unfamiliar position number six they occupy on the log standings.Civics will also hate to concede goals to Rudi Louw and Eusobio Fredericks, who both left them this season, while Pirates will try to find the net past goalie Danzyl Bruwer, who is now the number one choice at Civics.Civics will welcome back the Brave Warriors’ Brian Brendell, Jamu Ngatjizeko and Tugela Tuyeni in midfield and Franklin April in defence, who are core players for the side. The most sought-after player for Civics is surely William Chilufya, who will be the main target for the Pirates defenders.Chilufya is the key to the success of his team, provided he uses his speed and shooting abilities effectively on the night. The sides will go into the match evenly matched, but the winner will be determined by the side which commits the least mistakes and put their chances to good use.It will be an awesome encounter to watch, as all the players who did duty for the national side are back, eliminating excuses of the unavailability of key players. The sides will go into the match evenly matched, but the winner will be determined by the side which commits the least mistakes and put their chances to good use.
