Pick-up points announced for Nujoma’s burial service

The government has announced designated pick-up points in Windhoek for the burial service of founding president Sam Nujoma.

Mourners can access free public transport to the burial service, which is scheduled for Saturday, 1 March, with buses departing at 05h00.

Residents of the Samora Machel constituency can board buses at the following points:

Greenwell Matongo bus stop
Oshakati Service Station bus stop
Ivory Coast (Monte Cresto Road)
Matshitshi bus stop, including all Havana suburbs
The soccer field at Green Mountain Road, all three bus stops will be on Eveline Street.

“Residents are urged to arrive on time to avoid missing the buses,” the Office of the Presidency says.

City of Windhoek spokesperson Lydia Amutenya added that residents in other constituencies will also have access to transport.

In the Moses //Garoëb constituency, pick-up points are: the Ombili bus stop, the Moses //Garoëb constituency office, the Havana bus stop, Kabila bus stop and the Omulunga Street bus stop.

The Tobias Hainyeko constituency will have pick-up points at: include the Women’s Center, Onghuwo ye Pongo, Olyeeta Market, One Nation the and Babylon/Kilimandjaro informal settlement.

Pick-up points in the Khomasdal constituency include: the Augustinism Gate bus stop, 7de Laan bus stop, 8d Laan and Clinic bus stops. Buses will also stop at the Otjomuise 1, 2 3 stops, and the Woermann Brock Shopping Center in Otjomuise.
