Performances electrify NAMAs

THIS year’s Namibian Annual Music Awards was electrified with over 30 performances by various Namibian artists and a few tricks to keep the crowd wanting more.

The event, which took place at The Dome in Swakopmund on Saturday, was well over six hours long however notable performances had many people on their toes throughout the evening.

Y-Cliff, who sung his hit song ‘Drowning In My Feelings’ in a bubble bath tub and Sally Boss Madam’s sensational yet unexpected entrance as she flew in with an eagle prop, were just one of the few most memorable performances.

Not to mention Lize Ehlers who took home three awards, including artist of the year, best female artist and best house artist.

Best male artist of the year was artist, Exit who bagged two awards including best Kwaito artist and male artist of the year in his white ensemble.

The event was also attended by South African legend Yvonne Chakachaka who announced AKA’s winning as the Pan-African artist off the year, who could not attend the awards.

An energetic Top Cheri, famous for her feature on the hit single ‘Hangover’ and as being the only female artist in Blvcboxx entertainment, took home three awards, one of them being best newcomer.

Many artists also addressed the recent xenophobic attacks in South Africa and gender based violence in the light of the recent reports of attacks on women
