THE Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has urged pensioners who subscribe to its fund to set up an association to address their problems.
At a meeting held at Oshakati last week, GIPF PR Manager, Elvis Nashilongo, said such an association would have representatives in all the country’s 13 regions. Nashilongo said GIPF had 70 000 “active” members and 19 000 annuitants. He said because GIPF’s membership base was diverse, with different levels of education and cultural background, and GIPF annuitants were scattered across Namibia, the setting up of such an association would address such problems.”GIPF has adopted a vision to be among the leading pension funds worldwide, providing real value benefits and sustained stream of first-rate member services whilst meaningfully contributing to the development of Namibia’s economy and society. Therefore it has to be properly managed,” Nashilongo said.Through the association, Nashilongo said, GIPF would establish credible and sufficient channels of communication with pensioners.Nashilongo said GIPF had 70 000 “active” members and 19 000 annuitants. Therefore it has to be properly managed,” Nashilongo said.Through the association, Nashilongo said, GIPF would establish credible and sufficient channels of communication with pensioners.
