PDM parliamentarians will return Huawei tablets – Venaani

POPULAR Democratic Movement president McHenry Venaani has announced that his party’s parliamentarians will return the Huawei tablets donated to them by the Chinese technology giant.

Venaani made the announcement yesterday in the National Assembly after Huawei donated 157 Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite tablets to members of parliament two weeks ago.

“I have just announced in the National Assembly that all PDM members of parliament who received Huawei tablets shall return them forthwith,” Venaani announced.

He added that the devices could be a communication security risk.

“The Communication Regulatory Authority of Namibia (Cran) did not approve these tablets and this donor has economic interests in Namibia. Lastly, there is the possibility of interfering with communication security,” he said.
