Patient arrested over cannabis in ambulance

Research shows a link between marijuana use and psychosis.

A 38-year-old male patient was arrested near Otjiwarongo on Friday, after he was found in possession of cannabis valued at N$25 250 while he was being transported in an ambulance.

The police reported on Sunday that the man was travelling from Windhoek to Outjo in an ambulance and was arrested after the ambulance was stopped and searched.

Cannabis weighing 505 grams and valued at N$25 250 was allegedly found in his possession.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Otjiwarongo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

In another incident, two teenagers, aged 16 and 18, were arrested on Friday after they were found in possession of cannabis during a police search at Aranos.

“The value and weight of the cannabis is yet to be determined,” the police reported.
