Paragon Aviation Services, which took over the ground-handling services at Hosea Kutako International Airport (HKIA), is yet to receive accreditation (ACC3/RA3) for European-specific export cargo.
This information was confirmed by Namibia Airports Company’s spokesperson, Dan Kamati, on Thursday.
“Imports and exports through HKIA are active and direct exports to the European Union can only happen once the ACC3/RA3 certification is attained,” he said.
Kamati confirmed that while Paragon awaits its accreditation for European-specific export cargo, airlines have resumed cargo movement.
According to him, the accreditation is provided only after the person(s) conducting the audit observe the actual operations.
He said Paragon could not obtain this prior to taking over the ground-handling service.
Currently, exports for the EU zone are processed through Johannesburg, Addis Ababa, Luanda and Doha.
Kamati added that consultations around the EU accreditation with Airlink, Eurowings Discover and Qatar Airways are advanced.
