Pacon wishes Fidel Castro speedy recovery

THE Pan-African Centre of Namibia (Pacon) has applauded what it calls “a revolutionary and uncompromising stance” on the part of ailing Cuban President Fidel Castro in the face of a well-calculated, imperialistic onslaught against the Cuban people.

“This gallant son of the humanistic revolution against human oppression the world over, stood firm in his revolutionary ideas and ideals where others wavered and changed tactics to suit their greedy stomachs,” Pacon Chairperson Johanes Tjitjo said in a statement yesterday. “The man stood the test of time.He stood for Cuba and the gallant Cuban people. He fed them with one.Fidel will go down in the annals of the history of all progressive revolutionaries as the man who uncompromisingly said no to the sjambok of noon.”The Cuban leader’s health has deteriorated lately but Pacon said he “was and remains a great leader” who contributed immensely to the total emancipation of the African continent, including Namibia.”Even at this critical moment, we stand with comrade Fidel Castro, full in the knowledge that he has run the course, he has won the battle, yet his wisdom is still needed by many, especially the youth in his footsteps. We wish him speedy recovery and, come what may, the struggle continues,” Tjitjo said.”The man stood the test of time.He stood for Cuba and the gallant Cuban people. We wish him speedy recovery and, come what may, the struggle continues,” Tjitjo said.
