Prime minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila praises the Women’s Action for Development (WAD) for training over 4 000 women in their mission to reduce poverty.
“By providing practical skills training, WAD is not only helping individuals secure sustainable livelihoods but it also contributes to the broader economic growth of communities,” she says.
The prime minister was speaking at the 30th anniversary of WAD in Windhoek on Friday.
WAD is a nonprofit women empowerment and self-sustaining organisation.
Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said the organisation is a key partner of the government to provide skill development programmes that enable women to enhance their employability and start their own small businesses.
She said in addition to skills development, the organisation’s awareness campaigns has reached over 25 000 women to educate them about their rights and the importance of participating in the upcoming elections.
