Over 2 900 road accidents recorded this year

Namibia recorded 2 925 car accidents between 1 January and 7 December this year, resulting in 5 297 injuries and 385 fatalities.

This was revealed by the Motor Vehicle Assistance (MVA) Fund at a media event of the 2024/2025 Festive Season Road Safety Campaign.

MVA spokesperson John Haufiku says the majority of drivers involved in accidents are between 30 to 34 years old, followed by those aged 35 to 39.

“This remains a matter of concern as the country continues to lose young people in the prime of their youth and productive years,” Haufiku says.

Pedestrian related accidents and collisions were recorded at 33% and 29%, respectively.
