Over 10 000 visit Expo

THE Namibia Tourism Expo ended on a high note with over 1 000 more visitors passing through the gates compared to last year.

A total of 10 150 people took time to visit the three-day exhibition which ended on Saturday, and expo organiser Glenda Manthe-Grobler yesterday said the attendance proved that more and more people were beginning to understand and appreciate the event. She said new features such the Chef-In-Action theatre, which drew celebrity chefs to perform and prepare meals, were the main attractions.Manthe-Grobler emphasised that the expo was for local tour companies – big or small – to exhibit their services and products. The public can expect an even bigger expo next year, as Manthe-Grobler has already started planning the Namibia Tourism Expo 2007 by reviewing feedback from exhibitors and visitors and seeking room for improvement. The expo also provided a cluster of stands for small and medium entrepreneurs, which were also popular with visitors.Danny Meyer of SMEs Compete Namibia – an organisation that helped a number of SMEs to exhibit – said unlike in the past where small firms in the tourism sector were not involved with the mainstream providers, today they were key players.Exhibitors came from across the country to take part in the tourism fair.
