The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has accredited over 1 000 observers and members of the media for the presidential and National Assembly elections next week.

On Friday, ECN chairperson Elsie Nghikembua said the commission has issued accreditation to 12 local and international observer missions, totaling 453 individuals.

Nghikembua, along with commissioners, met with observers and the media on Friday to provide an update on the process and address any relevant issues.

“Additionally, we have accredited 13 local media houses, representing 592 individuals, including five freelance journalists,” she said.

The ECN further accredited 16 diplomatic missions, representing 85 individuals, she added.
