OMHEDI – Ovaherero paramount chief Vekuii Rukoro donated a three-year-old Simmentaler bull and two heifers to Queen Martha Mwadinomho waKristian yaNelumbu of Ovakwanyama.
Rukoro handed over the cattle to yaNelumbu during the centenary commemoration of the death of King Mandume yaNdemufayo of Ovakwanyama on Friday.
Upon receiving the animals, yaNelumbu commended Rukoro and his people for the gift.
In return, the Ovakwanyama Traditional Authority (OTA) allocated a piece of land near the Queen’s palace (ouhamba) for the Herero people.
A group of Ovaherero, including local business tycoon Ben Zaaruka, former director general of the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation Vezera Bob Kandetu and several horse riders, accompanied Rukoro for the commemoration and presentation of the cattle.
Zaaruka informed Nampa in an interview that they will use the donated land whenever they pay a visit to ouhamba in future. – Nampa
