Ouseb part ways with Lyn Oslo

BRAVE WARRIORS defensive strongman Mohammed Ouseb yesterday reached a mutual agreement to end his working relationship with his Norwegian-based club, FC Lyn Oslo.

The news was carried on the club’s official website, adding that ‘the parties wished each other good luck in the future.’ It also stated that there would be no further comments about the matter by any of the parties.Meanwhile, when The Namibian Sport contacted Ouseb in Norway about the matter yesterday, he said that they were still discussing it.”It is true that we spoke about my future with the club, but we did not reach an agreement that I will leave.I don’t want to say anything more than that because that would be against the agreement that I made with management i.e. not to talk to the media about it,” he said.Ouseb renewed his contract with the club for one more year at the end of November last year.Asked if it was about him arriving late at the club last month, Ouseb said: “Yes, it is partly because of that, but there are also other little things that we could not agree on”.He did not specify what those issues were but said they were likely to resolve the matter by early next week.Ouseb was due to return for preseason training to his club early in January but delayed his return, claiming that he had lost his passport.There were reports that he might be fined for not getting back in time, but yesterday, Ouseb said that he was not fined for it.The former Kaizer Chiefs defender also had intended to coming back to the South African premiership side before returning to Norway earlier this year.Concerning this issue, he said Chiefs’ coach Ted Dumitru did not want him here as he was ‘too aggressive.’He said club chairman and chief executive officer Kaizer Motaung had no problem of taking him into the Chiefs fold, but Dumitru thought otherwise.”I don’t know what he (Dumitru) meant with me being aggressive, but this was communicated through my manager (Steve Bailey) and I had to leave it in his hands,” he said.Ouseb was out of action for at least six months at the end of 2002, when his left knee was operated on after he sustained an injury during a training session.Last season, his club ended in third spot in the elite league of that country.Ouseb plays as a midfielder for Lyn Oslo, but is doing duty as a defender for Namibia’s national side.Ouseb who has won 68 caps for Namibia, also played for Chief Santos in the domestic league before he moved to Chiefs in the 90’s.It also stated that there would be no further comments about the matter by any of the parties.
