Otjiwa gets N$3 million facelift

AFTER about N$3,5 million worth of renovations last year, the Ohlthaver and List Group (O&L) have re-launched the Otjiwa Safari Lodge near Otjiwarongo.

The site was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Nahas Angula, who was accompanied by the Minister of Environment and Tourism, Willem Konjore, on Friday. Angula praised the company for its efforts in branding Namibia as a unique destination for tourists, while O&L Executive Chairman Sven Thieme urged Government to use the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) as a tool in developing policies aimed at enhancing the country’s tourism framework. The TSA is a report released by the World Travel and Tourism Council in September, which predicts that Namibia’s tourism and travel sector will grow by 7,9 per cent over the next 10 years, bringing it on par with the dominant mining and fishing sectors.Thieme stated that the travel and tourism industry currently equates to 16 per cent of the country’s total gross domestic product. The new accommodation facilities at Otjiwa have brought the total investment in the lodge to N$20 million.Angula praised the company for its efforts in branding Namibia as a unique destination for tourists, while O&L Executive Chairman Sven Thieme urged Government to use the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) as a tool in developing policies aimed at enhancing the country’s tourism framework. The new accommodation facilities at Otjiwa have brought the total investment in the lodge to N$20 million.
