The police in the Oshana region are investigating a suspected murder after the body of a 41-year-old man was found floating in a water pan behind the Oluno Correctional Facility at Ondangwa.
Oshana police head of criminal investigations deputy commissioner Frederick Ndjadila says one of the deceased’s testicles was missing.
The body was discovered on Saturday at around 09h40, the police say.
“It is alleged that a person who was passing the water pan saw a male body floating on the water and immediately alerted the Oluno Police Station,” Ndjadila says.
He adds that officers who attended the scene conducted an initial examination of the body and noted visible injuries.
“Upon inspection, the police observed injuries to the face which appeared consistent with an assault,” he says.
Ndjadila says the deceased was identified as Salom Nikanor, a resident of Okakwiyu village near Oniipa.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
