Several areas in the Oshana and Ohangwena regions are set to face scheduled power disruptions over the weekend as the Northern Regional Electricity Distributor (Nored) will be conducting maintenance and repairs.
Most of these outages are expected to occur between 07h00 and 19h00 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Many towns, villages and settlements in these regions are urged to brace for the outages and treat all electrical points as live, as power will be restored without prior notification.
Nored spokesperson Lukas Simon in a press statement said a power outage from 08h00 to 10h00 on Saturday will affect several villages and settlements in the Ondangwa Rural and Uukwiyuushona constituencies.
During this power outage, Nored will be tying in a new overhead line.
“On Sunday, the whole of Ongwediva and surrounding villages and settlements will be affected by a power outage, while Nored and NamPower conduct maintenance from 07h30 to 16h30. Nored will also do maintenance work on the power lines,” he said.
Simon said some parts of Helao Nafidi in the Ohangwena region and surrounding villages will be affected by a power outage from 07h30 to 16h30 on Sunday.
This is to allow Nored to cut overgrown trees, fix a skew pole, tension a power line near a taxi rank, relocate fuse links, and replace a rotten pole in a graveyard with two strain intermediate poles.
