Oshana and Kavango West booked their places in the semifinals of the Nedbank Namibia Newspaper Cup at Outjo after winning their quarter-final matches on Sunday morning.

Oshana beat Kavango East 2-0, while Kavango West beat Zambezi 1-0.

Oshana came out firing and took the lead after barely three minutes through a great shot by Eitaalo Shimbanda.

They continued to attack and after Denson Kavila had a shot saved, went 2-0 ahead midway through the first half after pressure in Kavango East’s box resulted in an own goal.

Kavango East were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half when defender Hieronimus Kamahia picked up a second yellow card for a foul.

Kavango West booked their place in the semifinals after a tight 1-0 victory against Zambezi.

Kavango West striker Mathias Kamanya scored the winning goal from the penalty spot after a foul in the box on 20 minutes.

Kavango West won another penalty after the break but this time Vincent Simbinde’s shot went over the bar.

Zambezi seldom threatened after that, with a long range effort by Simataa Luhakano in the final stages going wide of the target.

Kavango West and Oshana will meet in the semifinals later on Sunday.
