Oshakati baby drowns in bucket

A baby (13 months) at Oshakati’s Pohamba area allegedly drowned after falling in a bucket of water on Monday.

Oshana crime investigations coordinator deputy commissioner Frederick Ndjadila says the incident took place at about 23h30.

“It is alleged that the body of the baby boy was discovered in a 20-litre bucket, which was half full of water,” he says.

Ndjadila says the baby was in the bedroom with his mother, who fell asleep at the time.

When his father arrived home, he found the boy’s body in the bucket.

Ndjadila says no foul play is suspected.

He says the baby’s name was not registered yet.

Police investigations into the matter continue.
